Nourishing Eats
My basic philosophy of eating: eat whole and natural foods, cook them myself, be mindful (of the world, others, ecosystems, the impact of your eating/buying, and yourself), and savor. Some of the details in practice are using self-control, infusing meals and snacks with color, eating mostly plants (mainly vegetables), celebrating occasionally, learning to be intuitive about my needs and wants, sharing nourishing food with others, and being thankful for what I have. Good food is one easy way to nourish flourishing in your life and the lives of those around you.
I plan to do a post on how I came to nourish with the foods that I do, and on how to find your own eat-style, so stay tuned. For now, in summary, what I do not eat I almost always choose to abstain from because it causes an inflammatory reaction in my body. I am gluten-free and corn-free, careful about grains, eat very little dairy (and only organic when I do), no refined sugar (I use honey, agave, and stevia in my recipes), plant-based proteins, and an obscene amount of vegetables and fruit. For ethical and health reasons, I refuse to eat processed foods and “food” that contains unnatural additives and preservatives. In short – I eat real, whole foods.
